—Cine Quarterly

Cine Quarterly is a magazine that takes a critical look at mainstream movies.

As an avid movie-watcher and aspiring ally, I conceived of this publication as a way present societal issues to people that also love movies but may not be aware of their greater influence. Articles address topics such as feminism and James Bond, Indigenous representation in The Revenant, and queer characters in Star Wars. The design choices speak to the maturity of the magazine’s intended audience through the conventional use of columns, the treatment of pull quotes and the starkness of the images and layouts. The magazine’s exaggerated vertical stress speaks to the aspirational nature of its content.
